Fake IT Support Phone Calls Targeting Florida Business Staff

Scammers are cold-calling employees claiming to be from Microsoft, your ISP, or your IT provider — then requesting remote-access software installation or login credentials to 'fix a virus.'

Who is affected

Any organization with front-desk staff, bookkeepers, or non-technical employees who answer main office lines.

Why it matters

One successful social-engineering call can bypass expensive security tools entirely. Staff awareness is your last line of defense.

Recommended actions

  • Publish a clear policy: ITNS (or your MSP) will never ask for passwords by phone.
  • Give staff a single verified support number: (800) 350-0013.
  • Block unauthorized remote-access tools unless deployed by your IT team.
  • Report incidents immediately so credentials can be reset and logs reviewed.
